How can I check whether leggings are squat-proof and prevent see-through issues?

Update Time:2026/9/30

Check leggings during movement and under stretch, not only as an unstretched fabric swatch. Stretch can increase light transmission, so leggings that look opaque when standing may become see-through during a squat.

Sample approval checklist

For a brand's sample approval:

  • Review every planned color, with fit checks across the intended size range.
  • Use consistent daylight and indoor lighting, including light from behind, with a defined contrasting underlayer.
  • Check the seat and upper thighs during squats and forward bends.
  • Repeat after agreed wash cycles; add damp-condition checks when relevant to the intended use.
  • Record the fabric reference, size, lighting, stretch conditions and acceptance criteria.

When a sample fails

If a sample fails, review fabric construction, color and fit rather than relying on fabric weight alone. Use these checks for development screening, and agree with a laboratory on any formal test needed to support a squat-proof claim.
